Emergent Green is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that seeks to construct a prototype of “green homes” in Macomb, Michigan, and to negate the impacts which current home building and living practices have on the environment. The organization's programs, implemented by a well-trained staff, provide many opportunities for green building and the reduction of deforestation, carbon emissions, loss of water, and dependence on natural resources. Supporting the development of more intelligent building practices, Emergent Green provides many homeowners the chance to have more healthy houses.
Emergent Green was created to be a repository of ideas on efficient housing. The repository will provide a place to study and invent items and procedures that will be used to provide sustainable housing. We will establish a website to act as a receptacle for talent, funding and an exchange of ideas to expand our understanding of the challenges we face as a society concerning sustainable housing and the environment. Emergent Green will also implement such ideas to the community as quickly as possible.
Individual empowerment and self-determination have been strong components of the organization. The organization was conceived and organized to address that large amount of harm current home practices has on the environment.
"In our quest for everything, we have gained nothing."
